Debi Ramos has extensive experience in large and complex litigation disputes involving toxic torts, Superfund sites, failed financial institutions, securities and insider trading, intellectual property and trade dress, construction litigation and large family trusts, including one affecting In-N-Out trust administration and corporate governance.
Ms. Ramos has obtained a writ of attachment against a major transit company that breached its lease with one of Los Angeles’ largest commercial landlords; coordinated counsel relating to the Wolfgang Puck Restaurant Group’s bankruptcy litigation; second chaired a three week jury trial involving multiple defendants and claims of breach of fiduciary duty and legal malpractice; drafted the briefs, created the demonstrative exhibits and prepared the key witnesses for a three-week JAMS Arbitration in a landfill dispute resulting in a nine figure confidential award; and coordinated the consolidation and defense of more than 250 lawsuits filed in the wake of the collapse of a large construction owner/developer.
More recently, Ms. Ramos has been a key participant in civil litigation regarding social media; assisted a trust beneficiary successfully challenge multiple trust accountings spanning nearly ten years; and secured settlements for an aged trustee of her family trust who was accused of financial elder abuse. She has conducted bench and jury trials in California state and federal courts, arbitrations, and has prosecuted writs and appeals in Courts of Appeal for the First, Third and Fourth Appellate Districts of California, and in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also spent two years as in-house counsel at the former Pacific Bell in San Francisco.
From 1990 through 2003, Ms. Ramos conducted habeas investigations on a pro bono basis for four clients on death row. As appointed counsel, she prosecuted appeals for thirty-five indigent criminal appellants. She has taught ESL classes to Spanish speakers.
Ms. Ramos is a graduate of Harvard Radcliffe College and Harvard Law School. She is a lifelong fiber artist and designs yarn and knitwear.
